Description
Ancient seat of Pieve, the church of San Pròcolo is located in the hamlet of Avendita of Cascia.
The exterior, completely renovated, does not preserves any traces of the original building mentioned in documents since the fourteenth century, but probably more ancient, as suggests the uncommon dedication to Saint Pròcolo, Syrian hermit monk. Inside, rich wood furniture from Baroque period on the back wall, where two paintings with Saint Peter and saint Paul are included. Some paintings from the seventeenth century decorate the altars. Painted wooden tabernacle from the sixteenth century. The church displays a completely decorated wooden organ, with the Annunciation (sixteenth century) on the doors. The organ is still functioning, but with modern keyboard.
